Dr. Antonis Moustakas is an Associate Professor in Chemistry at the Department of Food Science and Technology at the Ionian University. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Ioannina in Greece in 1981 and his Ph.D. degree in chemical physics from Northwestern University in 1991, under the supervision of Professor Eric Weitz (Thesis title: Vibrational energy transfer studies in gas, liquid and supercritical rare gases). He then worked as a research scientist at NiOptics Corporation (Evanston, IL, 1992-1995). He moved to Greece in 1995 and began teaching Chemistry at the Epirus Institute of Technology in Arta in 1997, the Department of Materials Science at the University of Ioannina (2000 - 2003), then at the Department of Organic Farming and the Department of Organic Farming and Food Technology of the Technological Educational Institute of the Ionian Islands and the Department of Food Technology at the Ionian University. His research interests include the application of computer simulations on a variety of systems, mainly those of the interactions between molecules of the Major Histocompatibility Complex and antigenic peptides.
