Suspension of Studies

In accordance with Article 76 of Law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette A' 141/21.07.2022), as amended and currently in force, students who have not exceeded the maximum period of study—namely six (6) academic years or twelve (12) academic semesters—may, upon submission of an application to the Department Secretariat, request the suspension of their studies for a cumulative period of up to two (2) years.

A suspension of studies may be granted either as a single uninterrupted period or in separate periods, each of which must be of at least one (1) academic semester in duration. Where the suspension is granted in separate periods, the total cumulative duration thereof shall not exceed two (2) years.

During the final academic year preceding the completion of the maximum period of study, applications for suspension may be submitted only by students who have successfully completed at least seventy-five per cent (75%) of the required courses and ECTS credits necessary for the award of their degree.

Applications are examined by the School Dean’s Office, which shall issue its decision within thirty (30) days from the date of submission. Regardless of the date on which the application is filed, the suspension shall take effect from the commencement of the immediately succeeding academic semester.

The period of suspension shall not be counted towards the maximum duration of studies. Throughout the suspension period, student status shall be suspended, and students shall not be entitled to access or make use of the facilities, services, rights, or benefits associated with such status.

Upon the expiry of the approved suspension period, students shall be automatically reinstated to regular student status.
