Dr. Haris Giotis is an Agricultural Technologist, a graduate of the Department of Greenhouse Crops and Floriculture of the TEI of Heraklion, Crete.  He holds an MSc Horticulture degree from the University of Reading UK and completed his PhD thesis at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne UK, specializing in the development of integrated greenhouse crop protection systems.

His interests are the development of plant protection methods in greenhouse crops with an emphasis on the use of plant extracts-residues. He also deals with the development of hydrocolloids from composted plant residues (olive-vine, etc.) and their use in the food industry as well as in cosmetology.

He has published 16 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals with more than 500 citations (Scopus), taught in 2 postgraduate study programs at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and supervised 3 PhD theses at the same University. He has been a Departmental Coordinator in an international research program and in two national ones.

In the past he had developed professional activity in the agricultural sector (own companies) but also in the research and development sector of Tesco supermarkets UK.
