Dr. Iliada Lappa is a graduate of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) and holds a Master's Degree in 'Food Quality Management and Hygiene Assurance Systems' (AUA). She completed additional scientific training at a number of European institutions (University of Ghent, Belgium, University of Delgi Studi di Torino, Italy) and in 2018 she received a Ph.D. from the Agricultural University of Athens. She has worked as a researcher at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition of the Agricultural University of Athens and the Department of Food Science and Technology of the Ionian University participating in 12 research-funded European and national programs. As a PhD candidate, she assisted in the instruction of Food Microbiology laboratory courses. Since 2018, she has been an Academic and University Scholar at the Department of Food Science and Technology of the Ionian University teaching the courses Animal Science, Food Biotechnology, Food Biochemistry, Food Quality & Sensory Control, Enzymology and Food Hygiene, alongside supervising graduate thesis. Her research is focused on the study of microorganisms and their behavior in food as well as the design and development of innovative approaches related to quality control and food safety. She has published 25 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals, 3 book chapters, as well as 28 announcements at international and national conferences.
